Stainless steel 304 cable trunking is enclosed cable trunking made from grade 304 stainless steel for cable containment, protection and organisation where corrosion resistance, cleanability and a durable metallic surface are required.

The Sun manufactures stainless-steel cable trunking to project dimensions, thicknesses and drawings, with covers, joints and matched fittings.

1. What is stainless steel 304 cable trunking?

It is a box-shaped cable trunking system fabricated from 304 stainless sheet, normally supplied with optional covers, joint pieces and direction-change accessories.

2. Why use stainless steel 304?

Grade 304 offers good corrosion resistance in many indoor, food-processing, commercial and industrial environments. It is durable, hygienic in appearance and easy to clean when appropriate procedures are used.

3. Suitable applications

Typical uses include food and beverage areas, pharmaceutical and clean production spaces, commercial kitchens, factories, chemical-related areas with suitable exposure, buildings and technical zones requiring a clean corrosion-resistant finish.

4. When choose 316 instead of 304?

Consider 316 when exposure to chlorides, coastal salt, harsher chemicals or other more aggressive conditions requires higher corrosion resistance. Select material from the actual operating environment rather than material name alone.

5. Construction and accessories

A system can include trunking bodies, covers, joints, bolts, bends, risers, drops, tees, crosses, reducers and supports. Components should be compatible with the stainless-steel system and project design.

Common sizes

Common sizes include 100×50, 200×50, 100×100, 200×100, 300×100 and 400×100 mm. The Sun also fabricates to project drawings.

7. Thickness and support spacing

Select thickness with trunking dimensions, cable weight, support spacing and type, route direction, future capacity and installation conditions. Heavy or wide routes should be designed with their support spacing and load.

8. Common stainless-steel finishes

Available finishes can include mill, brushed or polished surfaces depending on the material and fabrication requirement. Select finish for cleanability, appearance and project conditions; polishing alone does not replace proper material selection or maintenance.

9. Manufacturing process

Material cutting → punching/cutting → press forming → fitting fabrication → finishing as required → inspection → packing. The Sun follows agreed dimensions and drawings.

10. Quality inspection

Checks can include dimensions, material thickness and grade documentation where agreed, shape, holes, joints, surface condition, fittings, quantities and packing.

11. Cleaning and maintenance

Keep surfaces clean and remove deposits using suitable non-chloride cleaning methods. Avoid unnecessary contamination from carbon steel, harsh unsuitable chemicals or abrasive handling; inspect the installation environment regularly.

15. Frequently asked questions

Does 304 stainless steel rust?

It has good corrosion resistance but is not immune to every environment; chlorides, contamination and unsuitable cleaning can affect its surface.

Can 304 be used near the sea?

Coastal conditions require assessment. 316 or another suitable solution may be needed for chloride exposure.

Is a polished finish easier to clean?

Surface finish can affect cleanability, but cleaning method and operating conditions are equally important.

Does it automatically meet HACCP or GMP?

No. Compliance depends on the complete facility design, materials, installation and operating procedures.

What is needed for ordering?

Send dimensions, thickness, grade, finish, cover, fittings, quantity and drawings or a bill of quantities.
