Hot-dip galvanized cable trays are fabricated first, then immersed in molten zinc to protect the surface, cut edges and punched holes. They are suitable for outdoor cable routes, factories, substations and areas with high humidity or corrosion risk.

Hot-Dip Galvanized Cable Tray for Outdoor Use

Hot-dip galvanized cable trays are selected for outdoor routes and corrosive locations. When specifying a system, agree the steel thickness, cable load and ASTM A123 coating requirements. The final price depends on dimensions, cover, fittings and order quantity.

ASTM A123 Material and Coating Requirements

The Sun galvanizes after fabrication and inspects the coating to ASTM A123/A123M when requested in the project documents. Coating thickness depends on the product category and base-steel thickness; one value does not apply to every size.

Steel used for hot-dip galvanizing should be at least 1.2 mm thick. The 1.2 mm option is intended only for tray widths below 200 mm. Most orders should use 1.5 mm or thicker to reduce distortion and meet practical load requirements.

  • Tray bodies and fittings are fabricated before galvanizing.
  • Suitable for outdoor and humid environments.
  • Drain holes, warping and post-galvanizing tolerances must be considered.
  • Any field cut or additional drilling requires corrosion protection.

Applications

Typical applications include factories, technical infrastructure, substations, solar-power projects and outdoor cable routes. For coastal or aggressive chemical environments, evaluate corrosion class and design life before selecting the finish.

Manufacturing Dimensions

Width W50–600 mm or to order
Height H40–200 mm
Thickness T0.8–2.5 mm, according to tray size and cable load
Length2.5 m, 3 m or to drawing
ConstructionPunched bottom, with or without cover, joined by splice plates

Thickness must be chosen for tray width, cable load, support spacing and installation conditions. Accurate quotations require the agreed tray body, cover, fittings, perforation pattern and quantity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the cable tray need a cover?

Select a cover according to cable protection, dust, water and installation position. Tray-only and tray-with-cover prices are quoted separately once data is available.

Can you manufacture to drawings?

Yes. The Sun fabricates custom dimensions, hole patterns, lengths and fittings to approved drawings.

How should thickness be selected?

Consider tray width, cable load, support spacing and environment—not only the lowest price.

Order from The Sun
