Material requirements for hot-dip galvanized cable trays to ASTM A123
The Sun carries out post-fabrication galvanizing and inspects the coating to ASTM A123/A123M when required by the project documentation. Coating thickness depends on the product category and base-steel thickness; one value does not apply to every size.
Steel intended for hot-dip galvanizing must be at least 1.2 mm thick. The 1.2 mm option is used only when width W is below 200 mm; most orders should specify at least 1.5 mm to limit distortion and satisfy the actual load.
- Fabricate tray bodies and fittings before galvanizing.
- Suitable for outdoor installations and humid areas.
- Allow for zinc drainage holes, distortion and post-galvanizing tolerances.
- Additional cuts or drilled holes made on site must receive protective treatment.
Applications
